The Red Door.

This is an homage to The Red Door. I dont know if you guys have noticed but the color choices of this website reflects the current colors of the NMBS/SNCB fleet (yellow, grey(s),red, blue). I love this palette. I personally find the red door so mesmerizing, especially on foggy or misty days. Grey days in Belgium are very common and that Red Door just pulls you in. In traditional American culture, a red door signified a welcome sign to tired travelers. A place where they can sleep and tie their horse up for the night. In China and Feng Shui, red symbolizes positive energy. In Ireland, there were 2 meanings behind it. One meant you paid your house off. No more mortgage to deal with. The other reason was to go against the English which wanted all doors to be black. This is connected to the Rolling Stones’ song “Paint it Black”. Black doors meant uniformity, the same shit….over and over. We are living in times where uniformity and conservative values are the “loudest voices in the room.”  Here’s my homage to The Rebellion. Red doors, now and forever. Enjoy.
