Your own path. Your own way. With others in mind.

Its Friday, again. Crazy. Let’s talk about making your own way. Your own path. Some of us are pioneers at heart. We wanna set the trail ablaze and get after it. Others are the followers once that trail is set. It takes a special someone to want to do the clearing, the cutting, the surveying. It taps into my “fear of the unknown” write up. We dont know what might be ahead as we are trailblazing, this is why I give full respect to the ones that choose to do so. A lot of us wait for the moment. We wait or PROCRASTINATE…use this one in your next scrabble match. (Do people still play Scrabble?, They should.) We wait for this “right moment” when we are “ready” but I have to tell you out of experience, That moment….does not exist at all. It’s not really a moment that arrives that shows you it’s time. It’s a state of mind that might not be perfect but once it happens, you’re gonna feel metaphorically lighter. In hindsight, we call that “the right moment”. The brain likes to label shit and categorize.

After the trailblazing, alot of folks like to “gatekeep.” That’s a popular term nowadays. I can appreciate some aspects of it but others, well, unfortunately time gets the best of all and you can’t fight against the inevitable part of life, Change. Sam Cooke said it, “Change gonna come.” All you can do is appreciate it and go with the flow, as best as possible. You may have to look inside of yourself a bit and see what is making the “change” abit scary for you. I say scary because anger/discomfort comes from fear and uncertainty. Dudes will argue otherwise until their blue in the face. Its just part of growing up and letting go of what you should. The things you CAN NOT CONTROL.

Do it your own way but try to remember you probably were not the first, you definitely will not be the last. Remember to keep making your own paths and appreciate the paths the ones before you have laid out. Treat it with respect as best as you can. We forget how interconnected most of us are and in the end, I would hate to use methods that our oppressors use on us, on others doing the same thing as me. Elevate your mind, know the ledge, do better.

Good weekend.
